Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Northern Open

Jason Christie of Park Hill, Okla., claimed that his status as a non-local enabled him to stay focused and win this week's Northern Open on Michigan's bountiful Lake St. Clair, but he's hoping to have a local advantage when he fishes the 2013 Bassmaster Classic on Oklahoma's Grand Lake, the body of water where many consider him a prohibitive favorite.

But, the late bite seemed to be key for a lot of the teams making the final cut to fish tomorrow on Lake Dardanelle near Russellville, Ark. The weights zero tomorrow, which levels the playing field for all seven teams.
(Jul. 20, 2012 - DETROIT, MI.) The weather changed for all of the competitors at the Northern Open on Lake St. Clair today, but the sun continued to shine the brightest on local angler Brian Metry. Many pros complained that the emerging sun and fierce winds didn't have their expected effect, but Metry added 22 pounds to his 23-05 catch from Day 1 and has a 14-ounce lead over Oklahoman Jason Christie.

(Jul. 18, 2012 - KEY WEST, Florida Keys) Texas angler Max Hardin caught a 38.4-pound dolphin, the largest fish boated at the 23rd annual Key West Gator Club Dolphin Derby that ended Sunday, July 15. His catch also helped power the team on Dream Catcher to first place in the tournament's boat division.

(Jul. 17, 2012 - ALMA, WI.) Curtis Samo of Rochelle, Ill., weighed a three-bass limit totaling 12 pounds, 12 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Great Lakes Division event on the Mississippi River in Alma. For his victory, Samo earned $6,009.

(Jul. 16, 2012 - MAYSVILLE, Ky.) Clint Bissonett of Beavercreek, Ohio, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 10 pounds, 12 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Buckeye Division event on the Ohio River in Maysville. For his victory, Bissonett earned $3,926.

(Jul. 16, 2012 - TRENTON, MI.) Jared Rhode of Port Clinton, Ohio, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 20 pounds, 8 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Michigan Division event on the Detroit River. For his victory, Rhode earned $5,164.

With temperatures reaching 100 degrees at the National Guard FLW Walleye Tour on Lake Oahe presented by Mercury, John Campbell of Marco Island, Fla., was calm, cool and collected as he won his first FLW Walleye Tour catching a five-walleye limit weighing 15-6 and beating second place Eric Ewing of La Salle, Colo. by one pound.
(Jul. 13, 2012 - Paris, TN) North Carolina pro angler Monica Altman pulled in a 17.91-pound five-bass limit from Kentucky Lake to claim a classic come from behind victory in the 2012 Lady Bass Anglers Association Larry Shaffer Memorial Tournament today. Her bag of fish included what would turn out to be the pro angler division Legend Big Bass Award winner weighing in at 6.32-pounds. Altman's two-day tournament total was 30.13-pounds.
Gamble to hold out for larger fish over slot size comes back to bite many anglers
(Jul. 13, 2012 - PIERRE, S.D.) Ninety-seven degree heat didn't seem to slow down the walleye bite on day two of the National Guard FLW Walleye Tour presented by Mercury on Lake Oahe. However, the gamble of letting the 20 and 22 inch walleyes go that were caught early in the day in hopes of getting a bigger walleye over the 20 inch slot mark did.

(Jul. 12, 2012 - Paris, TN) Lisa Johnson was whackin' 'em on legendary Kentucky Lake on day one of the Lady Bass Anglers Association (LBAA) Larry Shaffer Memorial Tournament. Johnson's five-fish limit weight that weighed at 16.17-pounds for day one which allowed her to capture a very slim lead.
Walleye factory still produces despite warm temperatures
(Jul. 12, 2012 - Pierre, S.D.) Extreme heat and very little wind greeted anglers today for the first day of the National Guard FLW Walleye Tour on Lake Oahe presented by Mercury. The 96-degree temperature had little to no effect on the bite, though, as walleye pro Lynn Jurrens of Watertown, S.D., and his co-angler, Lowell Joy of Bemidji, Minn. jumped to the top of the leaderboard after bringing in a five-walleye limit.

(Jun. 29, 2012 - GREEN BAY, WI.) Four-time Bassmaster tournament winner Dean Rojas of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., has taken the lead at the Bassmaster Elite Series Green Bay Challenge. Rojas, who was in 2nd place coming into today's round, added a limit of five bass weighing 17 pounds, 14 ounces to his tally, for a total of 37-12. First round leader Aaron Martens caught 16-15 today and trails Rojas by 13 ounces.

We had a total of 10 couples fish this tournament. It was a nice start of the day but a little windy and warm as the day went on! We had a close race for Angler of the year that was won with the last cast of the day by Pam Reich.
(Jun. 29, 2012 - LITTLE ROCK, AR) On a day when most people would say it's too hot to fish, Gary Hensley of Conway narrowly leads the Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza with a 5.94-pound bass he caught in the Dardanelle Pool of the Arkansas River. Hensley caught the fish in the 9 a.m. hour to take the overall lead on the first day of the three-day bass tournament.
(Jun. 29, 2012 - Lake Fork, TX) The Fourth Annual Yantis Catfish Classic at Lake Fork was held on June 23-24 at Oak Ridge Marina. This was a big fish competition with anglers competing for the largest catfish in any species. Cash prizes were awarded for the four largest fish caught each hour and bonus checks were paid to the seven anglers weighing the largest fish during the two day event.

(Jun. 27, 2012 - Eagle River, WI) Perfect weather and water conditions for a musky fisherman turned the muskies on June 23 and 24 in the PMTT Mercury Marine's Summer Challenge on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Mother Nature yielded a water temperature around 74 degrees which is prime for feeding muskies and air temps also in the mid seventies.

Steve Sink of Winston-Salem, N.C., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 21 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League North Carolina Division event on High Rock Lake. For his victory, Lowe earned $3,632 plus a $2,000 Ranger Cup and a $1,000 Evinrude bonus.
(Jun. 26, 2012 - Lake Ray Roberts, TX) Skeeter Bass Champs anglers have completed the final regular season tournament, wrapping up 2012 on Ray Roberts with the North Region. $44,300 cash and prizes were dispersed in 22 places paid in this 108% payback event. Zach Parker and Heath Moody enjoyed their second 1st place Bass Champs win taking home over $20,000.

(Jun. 26, 2012 - MARBURY, Md.) David Hooker of Stafford, Va., and John Hutchins of Warrenton, Va., each weighed a five-bass limit totaling 19 pounds, 6 ounces Saturday to tie for the win at the Walmart Bass Fishing League Shenandoah Division event on the Potomac River. Each took home $3,546 for their victory.
