Will face qualifiers from FLW College Fishing National Championship

Landon Anderson and Tyler Arms, collegiate anglers from Tennessee Tech University, qualified for the 2014 Ranger Cup University Team of the Year Challenge with their second-place finish in the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship on May 23 at Alabama's Lake Pickwick.


Former AOY Suffers Heart Attack
(May. 27, 2014 - MINNEAPOLIS,MN) Three-time FLW Angler of the Year winner Clark Wendlandt from Leander, Texas has withdrawn from next week's Walmart FLW Tour event at Pickwick Lake after suffering a heart attack on Monday. Wendlandt is currently at St. Mary's Hospital in downtown Knoxville and anticipates being released Thursday evening or Friday morning.

I'm glad I looked on Friday, because the conditions were cloudy on Saturday and you couldn't see them anymore. That probably helped me, though, because I knew where they were but they couldn't see me."

"I located six schools of fish in practice on Friday and I was able to get on three of them in the tournament. There were boats on the other three. I basically caught all my fish on two of those spots.

The Radford University team of Justin Witten of Radford, Va., and Will Bowling of Fincastle, Va., won the FLW College Fishing Northern Conference tournament on Smith Mountain Lake Saturday with five bass weighing 16 pounds and 12 ounces. The win earned the team $2,000 for their bass club and qualified them for the 2014 Northern Conference Invitational tournament on the Potomac River.


(May. 03, 2014 - MANY, LA.) Toledo Bend Reservoir produced a little something extra - lagniappe in Louisiana French-speak - for Dean Rojas on Saturday. Actually, that something extra was very large: a 7-pound, 2-ounce largemouth bass. And it proved to be the catch that made all the difference for Rojas on the third day of the May 1-4 Evan Williams Bourbon Bassmaster Elite on Toledo Bend.

The tournament dates back to 1955 when Earl Golding, then a sports writer for the Waco Tribune-Herald, organized what is believed to be the first major invitational bass fishing contests. In 1956, the competition was repeated but opened up to all Texas anglers as The State Bass Tournament.

Even though he lives close to the river, Johnson said he limits the amount of time he spends on the water.
