(Apr. 23, 2004 - Dania Beach, FL) Rolex U.S.A. and the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) have chosen Johnson Communications, Inc., located in Scottsdale, Ariz., a marine and outdoor sports focused public/media relations agency, to represent their events in the United States and internationally. Mike Myatt, IGFA Director of Marketing said Johnson Communications will handle media relations and creative responsibilities for numerous projects surrounding the two Rolex/IGFA world championship tournaments in May, and the annual Rolex/IGFA Hall of Fame induction ceremonies held in the fall. "For close to a century Rolex has been one of the most prestigious makers of superb quality timepieces in the world," said Myatt. "The IGFA has partnered with Rolex and other high-profile sponsors in the creation of the now five year old Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship Tournament held in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and the four year old Rolex/IGFA Inshore Championship Tournament held in Islamorada, Fla. With the projected growth of these world championship events, we needed strong media relations support. "Johnson Communications brings exceptional experience, tournament fishing knowledge, a solid list of contacts plus enthusiasm and the necessary skills working with the media here in the U.S. as well as worldwide. Plus Pete Johnson's strong newspaper and TV sports casting background is an additional asset." Besides sport fishing, Rolex is also involved with yacht racing, ladies golf and equestrian events. The IGFA is a nonprofit, membership-supported, conservation and record-keeping organization founded in 1939 with members in over 120 countries. The association’s headquarters welcomes visitors to the 60,000 square foot IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum in Dania Beach, Florida. Johnson, president and founder of the 21 year-old agency said, "The Rolex/IGFA tournaments have a strong following and have achieved a prestigious status in international tournament fishing. The IGFA's qualifying tournaments for individuals and teams continues to grow worldwide with some of the finest sport fishing anglers being invited to participate in these world championship events. We are very impressed by the IGFA's focus and obvious commitment to the U.S. and international recreational fishing markets."
