CHICAGO BOAT, RV & OUTDOORS SHOW WINS SILVER TRUMPET


(Jun. 16, 2004 - CHICAGO,IL) The Publicity Club of Chicago has awarded the Chicago Boat, RV and Outdoors Show its Silver Trumpet Award for its "Discover Boating Backpack" promotion. The Silver Trumpet is awarded for outstanding achievement in public relations. Last summer, the Chicago Boat Show and the Chicago Public Library teamed up to offer the Discover Boating Backpack program at eight branches of the Chicago Library. Targeted for children from six- to nine- years old, each backpack provided kids with books, a compass, a giant catfish puppet, tape measure for sizing up prize-winning catches, knot tying instructions and a boating safety activity book. The program was designed to assist parents in focusing their children’s learning around the theme of boating and fishing. "We are honored to be recognized for this outstanding community program. The true achievement, however, is the hundreds of families who have utilized the Discover Boating Backpacks and introduced their families to the joys of boating and fishing," says Jennifer Faulk, Show Manager of the Chicago Boat, RV & Outdoors Show. This is the second time the Chicago show has been recognized by the Publicity Club. The show's "Survive Chicago's Winter" promotion received a Golden Trumpet Award last year.
