(Jul. 02, 2004 - KENNESAW, Ga.) Yamaha Marine recently recognized four outstanding students of Yamaha Outboard dealers and their employees with a $3,000 college scholarship each.    This year's recipients are: Katherine A. Brobeil of Tonawanda, N.Y.; David Lamberton Jalensky of Racine, Wis.; Brooke Michelle Kresta of Edna, Texas; and Jenna Marie Taylor of Onancock, Va.    "We at Yamaha care about the future of our youth. The Dealership Scholarship Program allows us to assist dealers and their employees with the growing cost of higher education for their children, and it shows the students that extra effort and hard work truly does have its rewards," said Phil Dyskow, president of Yamaha Marine Power Group.    The program, now in its 20th year, helps families continue their student's education by rewarding those who excel in academics, leadership and extracurricular activities. Applicants are screened by a committee of educators.    Yamaha Outboards scholarships have made a difference in the college educations of previous winners by taking some of the financial burden off of their shoulders. "My college education placed a financial strain on my parents, especially in my freshman year. But Yamaha's scholarship made it possible for me to earn a college degree," said Bruce MacIntyre, a graduate of Lynchburg (Va.) College and a 1989 winner of the scholarship.    Scholarships are awarded exclusively to children of Yamaha Outboards dealers and their employees who have been with the dealership at least two years. The program is also open to regular dealership employees under the age of 21.    Brobeil is the daughter of Francis and Ann Brobeil, owners of Brobeil Marine in Buffalo, N.Y. She plans on attending Canisius College in Buffalo to study biology.    Jalensky is the son of Dennis and Laurie Jalensky, owners of Jalensky's Sport & Marine in Kenosha, Wis. He attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he studies journalism.    Kresta is the daughter of Rick and Rhonda Kresta, owners of Kresta's Boats & Motors in Edna, Texas. She plans on attending Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to study business.    Taylor is the daughter of Vince and Janet Taylor of Sandpiper Marine in Accomac, Va. She plans on attending the Univerisity of Virginia in Charlottesville to study biology and medicine.    Past recipients of Yamaha Outboards Dealership Scholarships have earned degrees in subjects ranging from business and economics to zoology and medicine. Winners have also used their awards to pursue careers in the marine business.    For more information on the Yamaha Outboards Dealership Scholarship Program, call (800) 248-9687.
