Folks, Texans!
Texas needs your help. There is a bill, HB 3298, being considered in Committee in the Texas Senate which needs to be DEFEATED for the Good of TEXAS.
HB 3298 is the first step to creating a water grid over Texas about sending water from a grid that has water to an area demanding more water, whether or not those areas are using existing water supplies efficiently. Texans do not need this as we already have a Water Plan based on input from all regions of the state. A state water grid is more government on top of government.
The energy cost to move water in this manner would be prohibitive. This plan has been tried before in Texas and in other states and has failed.
There are findings hidden away in this bill if passed will become law and courts and lawyers will use to the disadvantage of Texans.
My Texas Senator, Robert Nichols, opposes HB 3298 in the Senate. He represents East Texas from south of Tyler to Orange and over to Montgomery County; that’s Senate District 3. If you live in Texas Senate District 3, encourage your friends in other districts to help defeat this bill. It would be encouraging to contact Sen. Nichols and thank him for opposing HB 3298.
Here’s what you can do to help defeat this bill. Contact your Senator. There are only 31 Senators in the Texas Legislature.
Your Senator will make a difference.
Here is how to find your Texas Senator:

Call and email your senator and tell them
1). You oppose HB 3298 being considered in the Senate Committee for the above reasons
2). Ask your Senator to contact Senator Robert Nichols for the details of this bill.
Most elected officials only listen to their constituents – so it is very important for YOU to call and email YOUR Senator.
Contact your Senator today and then again tomorrow.
Every contact makes a difference.
Let me know you contacted your Senator; I will keep you abreast of the progress. This is the way politics work after an election.
THANK YOU and TEXAS will THANK YOU too.
Until we put in again,
Michael
Additional comments:
Here is what we need to do next to defeat HB 3298 in the Texas Senate.
Target the Senate Committee that is hearing this bill tomorrow, Monday, May 18.
I called each Senator’s office listed below this afternoon. It took about 15 minutes. You have to let it ring a long time to get the voicemail if they don’t answer. But do it. The only one I didn’t get an answer or voicemail was Sen. Hinojosa.
The reasons this bill is not good are the following:
2). The energy cost to move water in this manner would be prohibitive. This plan has been tried before in Texas and in other states and has failed.
3).There are findings hidden away in this bill if passed will become law and courts and lawyers will use to the disadvantage of Texans.
Here’s all you got to say “I am calling in opposition to HB 3298 that the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water and Rural Affairs is hearing and request this bill not be voted out of committee” That’s all you got to say. You can tell them Sen. Nichols opposes this bill.
Calling is better than email. It is very important to do this now as the Committee is hearing this bill tomorrow.
We can beat this bill with your help!
Michael
