Torqeedo, long-time supporter of small boat fishing and leader in clean, zero-emission marine propulsion, returned to the 2017 Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship as a main title sponsor. Kurt Smits won the two-day tournament recently held on Kentucky Lake in Paris, Tennessee. He overcame high winds, cold weather and the best efforts of over 350 other competitors to take home over $40,000.
"The second annual National Championship was a showdown of the nation's top kayak bass anglers with the largest payout in our sport's history," said Chad Hoover, popular TV host and tournament organizer. "It also kicked off the 2017 season where fishermen will compete in local clubs and trail events for a chance at an even larger prize in 2018."
"Fishing is one of the most popular outdoor sports, getting hundreds-of-thousands of people outside and on the water every year," said Torqeedo senior VP Steve Trkla. "A kayak with a Torqeedo Ultralight 403 allows anglers to get into shallower waters than most fishing boats can reach, sometimes miles away from a dock or a boat launch. That's where you'll find the big fish."
Torqeedo developed the first electric motor system specifically for kayaks, the Ultralight 403. Almost silent, its motor and lightweight lithium battery are the propulsion of choice for recreational and pro anglers alike. Leading manufacturers, including Hobie and Wilderness Systems, have embraced its power and efficiency, and produce mounting systems specifically for their boats.
