Once again, Curtis Jordan proves why he is Angler of the Year for the second time. With Lake Houston throwing all kinds of obstacles at the fishermen, Curtis Jordan still seems to be able to pull a rabbit out of his hat. Curtis brought 5 fish to the scales that weighed 10.22 lbs. Now that might not seem like a lot to most of you guys, but if you’ve ever fished lake Houston, (and especially recently fished it) you would understand just how difficult it is to catch fish here lately. Not only are they getting ready to dredge parts of the lake, but are also in process of removing ALL the cover out of the water. They have removed all the laydowns and brush in the rivers east and west forks, and in the bayou. There are no more brush piles under any docks, they’ve taken it all out and have made it TOUGH on the fishing. But as I have been told in the past by City officials “ Lake Houston is strictly a water source and they are not at all interested in it as a fishery”. And with last years hurricane and all the flooding I can understand. Curtis also caught the biggest bass of the day, a 3.90 lb’er to make his winnings $470.00 today. Way to go Curtis !
Randy Quin has fished this Lake for more than 20 years and said it was TOUGH ! Randy did manage to bring in a small limit weighing 8.94 lbs., and that was enough to take second place and $180.00. Congratulations Randy !!!
There were 9 Individuals who came out to fish this morning, and after playing the National Anthem they took off one by one at approximately 6:20 am, It turned out to be a nice day to be on the water. I appreciate all who came out to fish.
The Lake Houston Championship will be held October 6th & 7th out of Lake Houston Marina. There are 12 Individuals who qualified and if all show, they will be fishing for approximately $4,000.00….
