Record after Record after Record fell at this year’s CAST Classic Tournament. Heaviest winning weight, largest number of couples weighing in fish, most total pounds weighed in a Classic Tournament, a $20,000.00 Calcutta pot. In fact, it took more weight at this years Sam Rayburn tournament to come in 10th place than it did to win the tournament the last time we were here. But I am getting ahead of myself. Let me start at the beginning.
Our CAST Classic started on Friday night in Lufkin, with the first of TWO Catered Banquets that we provided for each of our Classic couples. At the first banquet, all of the participating couples received a weigh bag containing a $25.00 gift card from Academy Sports and Outdoors, several bags of worms were given to each couple from Mr. Twister, two Koozie’s with the C.A.S.T. logo on it’s side, boat & car decals with the new CAST logo, the Classic program with all the names of each couple and color photos of this year events, and a large custom towel with the CAST Classic silk screened on it.
This tournament has developed a national reputation over the last 20 years as being the finest couples championship held each year and again this year it more than lived up to its reputation.
Saturday
We could not have asked for better conditions for the start of the 2005 CAST Classic Tournament. The weather was 70 degrees with no wind. This allowed all of our couples to be able to run to any spot on huge Lake Sam Rayburn..
Tara Foster & Brandon Flowers landed the Big Bass of the Tournament with a monster going 6.92 lbs.
Ok,Ok, Tara caught the bass, I just can’t believe that a little girl out fished all of us manly men. I was going to say “just wait until next year” but then I got to thinking, “she will have another years worth of experience, no telling what she can do then, so I will just say a well deserved congratulations on a great fish.
Consistency is what paid off for our winners Johnny & Jolyne George they weighted in 15.86 lbs on Saturday & 16.85 lbs on Sunday for a total winning weight of 32.71 lbs.

Grand Prize Winners were Randy & Leta Bunch. They were awarded the keys to a brand new 2006 RANGER 519 BOAT and RANGER TRAIL TRAILER & 2006 MERCURY 200HP OUTBOARD MOTOR .
