Anglers Quest 2007 Twin Lake Saturday Series #18 on Lake Houston out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, TX began this event with 40 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $1215.00 purse. The event began at safe light, which was 6:45 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm.
This Saturday Series after all 20 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2008 Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams will go to the Saturday Series Championship in October on Lake Livingston & Lake Houston. A special Top 7 group of teams will qualify to go to the Guaranteed $10,000.00 to the winning team “Tournament of Champions” to be held in November on Lake Tyler. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $100.00 per team.
Lake Houston water was about 1/2 ft below normal pool level with water temps running 88-90 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 68 degrees with a warming to 92 degrees by weigh in time. The fishing has been getting better on Lake Houston as there were 7 limits brought to the scales today, a total of 57 bass at 129.89 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.27 lb.
It was another TIREMAX team winning the 3rd Saturday series event in a row, this time it was Jason Reyes & Dean Coleman from Humble, Tx running & gunning a trash pattern on the main lake flipping drop shot rigs tipped with trick worms in 3-6 feet of water from Jason’s TIREMAX sponsored Ranger/Yamaha to catch their limit of bass. Jason & Dean weighed 5 bass at 13.10 lbs to finish in 1st place and claim $600.00 for their day on the water.
Chuck McClurkin & Doug Worzel from Humble run Chuck’s Triton/Mercury bass rig to north creek areas of Lake Houston to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass caught on Tx rigged worms that tipped the scales at 12.30 lbs giving them a payday of $350.00 for their day on the lake.
Randy Quin from Huffman, Tx ran his Champion/Mercury bass rig to a 3rd place finish with a limit of bass that tipped the scales at 12.27 lbs to collect $200.00 for his day on the water. Randy reported catching his 4 bass on Tx rigged worms around shallow cover in the Luces Bayou & E. Fork area.
Jeff Jackowski from Tomball & Steve Cross from Spring, Tx did most of their fishing today in Luces Bayou and brought 5 bass to the scales that weighed 12.05 lbs to get the 4th place check of $130.00. Jeff & Steve also had the 2nd Big Bass at 3.92 lbs to collect an additional $80.00.
Mike Dorcz from Humble & Eddie Harrison from Huffman, Tx brought in the 1st Big Bass of the event today at 4.34lbs to make them $120.00 for that one bite.
Anglers Quest’s next event will be the 19th of 20 Saturday Series on Lake Livingston at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on October 6th, entry fee is $100.00 & take off will be at approximately 6:55 am. October 20th A/Q will be at the last of 20 Saturday Series on Lake Houston with $105.00 team entry fee hosted from Lake Houston Marina.
