On Saturday Sept. 17 at 8 a.m. EST, ESPN Outdoors will present a special one-hour edition of BassCenter focusing on Hurricane Katrina’s devastating impact on the lives of millions of people who – for generations – have enjoyed the outdoors and the effect on the natural resources in the Gulf region. The show will include expert interviews, a first-hand look at the resources impacted and an inspirational documentation of the long road to recovery. The show reairs at 9 a.m. and again at 10 a.m. EST.
The show’s concept is to provide a complete overview Katrina’s impact on the outdoors community, from rescue stories to a look forward at what will happen to the Delta’s wetlands. It includes economic, environmental, historical and psychological perspectives.
Some time will be devoted to telling the stories of:
Angel Anglers who recently visited Long Beach, Miss., to deliver supplies and cook a meal for the town. They include ESPN Outdoors personalities Mark Zona and Tommy Sanders as well as a host of professional anglers.
Greg Hackney’s dramatic, rescue of his father-in-law from the floodwaters of New Orleans. This is the first televised interview with the whole Hackney family and will include a map of Hackney’s route.
Interviews with outdoor writers, state officials and others.
