Cabela’s School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia Shake Up

Auburn University takes the Top Spot with Arkansas Tech University and Murray State University in Second and Third

As the Cabela’s School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia race continues into the 2017 season, there has been a shake up in the standings after the first three events of the year.

Auburn University has taken over the number one spot in the current standings with a ten-point lead over the second place school, Arkansas Tech University. Rounding out the top five are Murray State University in third, Dallas Baptist University in fourth, and Nicholls State University coming in at number five.

With the recent change in the standings, Auburn University knows all too well that there is still work to be done. Darrel High, Auburn University’s coach said, “Well, even though there is a long way to go in the points standings for this prestigious award, this gives our team more confidence moving ahead. Auburn University’s Bass Team will continue to work hard at staying on top as we know how strong the competition is at the collegiate level and we will have our best anglers competing throughout the remainder of the season.” Coach High continued saying, “Our strategy involves targeting the qualifying events and looking at the best way to budget these events across the country so we can maintain our standings. The team is really focused this season and we have great leadership that will plan with me on strategies that will hopefully get us to our goal of Cabela’s School Of The Year!”

Arkansas Tech University’s bass team certainly made some waves by competing in two of the first three events of 2017. “Right now, the team is really happy about being in 2nd place at the moment in the Cabela’s School of the Year standings. Being that, we still know there is more work to be done to try and move into 1st,” commented TJ Tucker, Arkansas Tech University bass club member. “As far as strategy moving forward, we are still going to go into each event like we have the past semester. We look at each tournament as another tournament to prove ourselves and show that ATU is still a team to watch.”
