James Chandler & Sandro Alfaro brought five bass to the scales Saturday, that weighed 15.08 lbs. That was enough to take 1st place out of the 22 boats that chose to fish the third Anglers Quest Team Tournament on Lake Houston this year. James and Sandro fished out of a Ranger Boat powered by Mercury Outboard. Sandro reported catching them on spinner baits, chatter baits and flipping brush hogs in about 2-4 ft of water. Sandro and James would like to Thank their Sponsors : Bimini Bay Outfitters, Kistler Rods, Saltlife Optics, Amphiba Eyewear, and the Law Office of James Chandler. Sandro & James took home the first place check for $1,675.00. Congratulations guys !!!
The Team of Danny StAndrie & Kary Essl came in second place with their limit of bass weighing 13.97 lbs. They took home the second place check for $840.00. Kary reported catching them on Tsunami Swim Baits & Jigs in shallow brush. And would like to send out a special Thank You to: Mercury, Motorguide, Mustad, Fishing 13, Seaguar, Bowden Marine and Bimini Bay.
Third place was held by the Team of Shane Davis & Dennis Wilson, they brought 5 to the scales that weighed 12.97 lbs., and they took home the third place money for $500.00. These guys had a rough day as they lost their lower unit around noon and then while retrieving their fish from the live well, a culling ring broke and they almost lost their biggest fish. Luckily they got their hands on it and got all 5 fish in the bag and to the scales. Great save guys !!!
Fourth place was one by the team of Kevin Rhodes and Gena Roden. These two brought 5 to the scales that weighed 12.70 lbs., and they took home $330.00 for their day on the water. I believe Gena was the only female that fished with us today, that just goes to show you guys that we girls are not to be taken lightly…..
Clayton Smith & Ben Pope brought in the largest bas of the day, a nice 4.93lb’er. they took home the big bass money of $200.00 for that one bite !!!
I also would like to mention the IMPORTANCE of LIFE JACKETS…. Just ask Lee LaCour, as he was actually thrown from the boat. According to Greg Crawford, ” We were going through the East / West cut and hit a couple of large waves, when I looked over and Lee wasn’t there.” Greg turned the boat around and plucked lee out of the water, fortunately all was good and no one was hurt and thankfully Lee was wearing his Life Jacket and didn’t miss a beat, they continued to fish the rest of the tournament. Way to hang guys!!! That had to be scary…….
To all “my Fishermen” THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!! Some of you guys have fished with me for years, and some are just starting to fish Anglers Quest. I appreciate each and every one of you !!!
It’s a new Year Guys & Gals, if you’ve never fished with us, come give us a try ! We’re not the biggest game on the water, but we’ll give you an honest tournament with some awesome competition. Hope to see ya in the weigh-in line !!!
