Anglers Quest 2013 Sam Rayburn Saturday Team Series #7 out of The Umphrey Pavilion at Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 98 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $8550.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the Sam Rayburn Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Rayburn Championship. The top team in points after the series will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2014 Rayburn Saturday Series events. The teams entering all 8 Rayburn Saturday series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Saturday Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 23-27 at Toledo Bend.

This 7th event of 2013 was started at 5:55 am. Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and 2.50 feet below normal pool level with water temps ranning 80-84 degre es. The weather at takeoff was a calm 72 degrees with a warming to 97 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was good on Big Sam today as there were 28 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 152 bass at 442.25 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.90 lb.

The team of Charles Bebber & Kris Wilson from Willis, Tx ran their bass rig to north lake areas with deep brush piles to catch their bass throwing tx rigs & c-rigged baits in 12-25 ft of water. They managed to cull a number of times to finish in 1st place with a mega sack of 5 bass at 30.79 lbs. Kris caught the 9.23 lb Big Bass of the event. Charles also had the Foremost insurance policy through the Salamone agency and collected the $200.00 Bonus. This win & Big Bass made them $2650.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Darren Roberts from Nacogdoches, Tx & Phil Addison from Baytown, Tx ran Phil’s BassCat/Mercury to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing c-rigged worms & lizards along with top water pop n frogs in 3-7 ft of water. They managed to cull from many keepers to finish in 2nd place with 20.22 lbs and made them $1200.00 for their day on the water.

The father & son team of Stan & Steve Burgay from Timpson, Tx ran their bass rig to mid & north lake creek areas to probe the grassy areas holding bass to bring 20.03 lbs to the scales. They finished in 3rd and collected $1000.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Brian Branum & Keith White from Sam Rayburn, Tx ran Brian’s Ranger/Mercury bass rig to north lake areas over grass to catch their bass in 10 ft of water on Santone Jigs with Flappy Daddy trailors. Brian & Keith wanted to also give thanks to Mercury, Falcon Rods and Carleson Marine. They managed to cull several times to finish in 4th place with 19.85 lbs. This made them $800.00 for their day on the water. The team of Donald Randall & Don Taylor from Nacogdoches, Tx finished in 5th with 18.74 lbs. This finish made them $700.00 for their day on the water. The team of Michael & Lance Lowery finished in 6th with 18.15 lbs and collected $600.00. The team of Patrick Cascio & Lindy Hadley finished in 7th with 17.97 lbs and collected $500.00.

Anglers Quest will be back on Lake Houston for the 16th of 23 Tuesday evening events on July 9th. On July 13th Anglers Quest will be back at Lake Livingston for the 7th of 8 Saturday Series events. On July 14th A/Q will be back at Lake Houston for the 7th Individual event of the year. Then A/Q will be back on Lake Houston on July 20th for the 7th of the Saturday Team events.

<> Anglers Quest in an effort to increase entries in the Individual Series events on Lake Livingston & Lake Houston has switched the dates of the 2 series events to make the Individual events not fall on the same weekend as the Team events. The 2 remaining Livingston Individual events will be on July 21-August 18. The 2 remaining Houston Individual events will be on July 14-August 4. We do hope this change does not cause anyone any inconvenience…we are trying to make these 2 series better for you and A/Q.
