Anglers Quest Rayburn Saturday 1st Series #1

Anglers Quest 2012 Lake Houston Saturday 1st Series #1 out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, TX began this event with 54 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $3640.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the 1st & 2nd series of Houston Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Houston Championship. The top team in points after both series will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2013 Houston Saturday Series events. The teams entering all 8 Houston Saturday 1st & 2nd series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lake Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon. This 1st event of 2012 was started at 6:50 am. Lake Houston water was in good shape and at approximately normal pool level with water temps ranning 63-64 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 67 degrees with a warming to 75 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was decent on Lake Mud today as there were 10 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 70 bass at 154.80 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.21 lb.

The 2012 AOY Team of Chris DiBerardino from Huffman & Albert White from Houston ran Chris’s Triton/Mercury bass rig to numerous parts of the north lake creeks to catch their bass throwing spinner baits & TX rigged brushhogs in 1-3 ft of water using their American Rodsmiths Rods & Shimano reels. They managed to cull several times to finish with 14.36 lbs. This win made them $1400.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Dean Coleman & Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, TX ran Dean’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to various spots all over the lake. Dean fished this event alone today and finished in 2nd with his best 5 bass caught with worms & small cranks in 1-5 ft water. Dean’s bass tipped the scales at 12.70 lbs. He had a limit in the boat by 11 am and then culled several more times throughout the day. His day on the lake paid back $820.00 for his efforts.

The team of Kary Essl & Dennis Wilson finished in 3rd with 12.61 lbs and collected $525.00. The team of John Littleton & Danny StAndrie finished in 4th with 12.13 lbs and collected $300.00. Travis Robinson & Ruben DeLeon finished in 5th with 11.09 lbs to collect the last money spot of $175.00.
