Anglers Quest 2007 Super Team Series #3 blasted off at 7:05 am on Lake Sam Rayburn with 58 teamed anglers showing up to go for the all cash purse of $4590.00. This Series will provide the “Team Anglers of the Year” with free entries to all 2008 Super Team Series events. The Super Team Series Championship will be a 2 day event held on Sam Rayburn for the Top 25 in points or any team entering all 5 events on June 30-July 1, 2007, this will be a no entry fee championship with $5000 guaranteed going to the winning team. Top 7 from this Series will advance to the “Tournament of Champions” which will again, as last year be held on Lake Tyler on November 10-11, 2007 and will have a maximum of 30 teams from all A/Q series go to a very exciting $10,000.00 to the winning team Championship. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to compete for.

The air temp at takeoff was 46 degrees with a warming to 79 degrees at weigh in time. The water was at approximately 1/2 ft above pool level with water temps running 62-64 degrees in the main lake. The fishing was still very tough on Big Sam today as only 11 limits were brought to the scales for a total of only 89 bass at 190.81 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.14 lb.

Chris McCall from Jasper & Pete Shivers from Kirbyville, Tx ran Chris’s Ranger/Evinrude A & W sponsored bass rig to mid lake grass beds to catch their limit of 5 bass flippin’ Texas rigged plastic baits to 8 ft deep grass edges and ended up with 13.48 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect the A/Q “Goal Posts” and $1800.00. Chris & Pete also had the 2nd Big Bass of the event a fine 5.02 lber that made them an additional $115.00 giving them a $1915.00 payday for their day on the water.

Randy Turner & Brig Luce from Lufkin, Tx fished together today and gathered up their 5 bass and ended up with 12.77 lbs to finish in 2nd place and collected $1000.00. Clay Clevenger from Bullard & Ken Smith from Dallas, Tx ran their bass rig to numerous areas on the lake to catch their best 5 bass to bring to the scales and captured 3rd place and $750.00.

David Durrett & David Watson both from Rusk, Tx powered their bass rig to mid lake areas with 10-12′ grass ledges to catch 3 bass at 12.02 lbs and the biggest bass of the tournament weighing in at 5.98 lbs to garner 4th place, big bass and $625.00 for their day on the water.

Charlie Higginbotham from Port Arthur & Shane Dorsey from Orange, Tx fished together again today and caught their 5 bass and ended up with 10.87 lbs to finish in 5th place and collected $300.00.

Anglers Quest will be back on Big Sam on April 29 for the 4th of the 5 Super Team Series events. Enter these events anytime at Needmore Tackle or call Anglers Quest at 281-852-8842. Anglers Quest’s next event will kickoff the 23 event Tuesday Series on Lake Houston at Lake Houston Marina on April 3rd $70.00 team entry & take off will be at 6pm weigh in will be at 9:15 pm. April 4th will kickoff the Wednesday Series on Lake Conroe with $65.00 team entry hosted from Anchorage Marina will also takeoff at 6pm and weigh in at 9:15 pm. Anglers Quest will be at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on Lake Livingston on Saturday, April 7 for the 7th of 20 Saturday series events.
