Lake Brownwood was found about 4 feet low as the couples launched from the very comfortable Mountain View Lodge on the south side of the lake. The water temp. stayed at 54 to 58 degrees and a cool outside temp. ranging from a morning 35 degrees to a very nice 67 degrees at weigh-in.
The clear water in the dam area held most of the early morning action as the couples worked rattle traps over the rocky flats picking up the scattered bass. Then as the temp. rose so did the action in the coves with bass being picked up on rocky points burning white Terminator Spinnerbaits off the bottom.
With a total of 34 bass coming to the scales and a weight of 92.62 lbs. making a 2.71 adv. weight this 16” minimum lake is primed and ready for the new 14” limit to be reintroduced in September by the TPWD.
The top couple at weigh-in were Cliff and Sarah Wagnor owners of Field and Stream Sporting Goods in San Angelo, Texas followed by Bobby and Jeanne Rains of Cisco, Texas.
Ladies Big Bass honors go to Becky McBride of Brownwood with a real nice 6.21 lb. large mouth and Men Big Bass went to Tommy Busbee of Midland with one weighing 6.94 lb.
Next tournament will be held on Oak Creek Lake March 21st with the headquarters at McWorter’s Live Oak Lodge 915-282-3071. Call Tommy Busbee @ 915-687-2522 if interested in fishing C.A.S.T.
