Our couples arrived for Saturday sign-up and a fried chicken supper with their boats loaded with water, Gator-aid and multiple bags of ice expecting the oppressive 100 plus temperatures that plague North Texas every August. On Sunday morning Mother Nature decided to play a trick on our couples and sent a small Norther with a nice breeze, cloudy skies and temperatures topping out in the upper 80’s, perfect conditions for great fishing all day.
Corky and Audrey Moody used black and blue worms around boat houses and mid-lake humps to land a nice 7.95 lb stringer that was anchored by a 5.95 lb black. The Moody’s went home with a plaque and 2 nice checks totaling $670.00 for first place and 2nd place Big Bass.
Larry and Mary Lynn Wood fished rocky points on the main lake with white 5′ Exude RT. Slugs and black jigs to take second place with a 7.60 lb stringer.
Bob and Michele Wood fished a rocky creek near the mouth of the river. Bob was using an Exude Finesse Worm, the bait that has helped the Wood’s to claim a spot in the C.A.S.T./North Top Six. Bob’s Big Bass of the tournament topped the scales at 6.00 lbs.
The last four years Lake Bridgeport has not given up any bass over the 18 inch slot to our anglers. This year the following couples found the Big One’s:
