Costa Rolls Out The Watery Rave

Costa Sunglasses is on a mission: to protect and preserve the planet’s sustainable fish habitats around the world. To further its cause, Costa recently launched The Watery Rave blog, to share stories of heroic conservation efforts and epic fishing adventures happening across the globe.

Costa will use the blog to chronicle and share important conservation stories happening now, and invite others to join the discussions and spread the word. From developing the film, Currents of Belize, about the rapidly changing Belizean coastline and the people who cherish it most, to partnering in a five-year permit tagging initiative in Florida with the Bonefish Tarpon Trust, Costa works to raise awareness about jeopardized fish habitats and spark conservation efforts as a result.

“The Watery Rave is a collection of stories that need telling – stories we hope will be shared so more people join the call to action to protect sustainable sport fishing environments for future generations to enjoy,” said Al Perkinson, Vice President of Marketing for Costa Sunglasses.

The Watery Rave will also look for epic fishing adventures taking place around the world, like when Costa pro Chris Fischer and his Ocean crew set out in the Pacific to tag and release 4,000 pound great white sharks to ollect crucial scientific research about the fish population. From Guyana, South America, to Labrador, New Foundland, Costa plans to chronicle new conservation adventures, as well as look to The Watery Rave’s readers to share their own stories.

“Although we’ll be journaling from our around-the-world experiences, The Watery Rave is more about sharing everyone else’s adventure stories,” said Perkinson. “We see this site as a place where we can connect with people from the four corners of the Earth about new places to see, places to protect and places to experience incredible fishing.”

About Costa
As the leading manufacturer of the world’s clearest polarized performance sunglasses, Costa offers superior lens technology and unparalleled fit and durability. Still handcrafted today in Florida, Costa creates what has been referred to as the highest quality, best performing sunglasses on the planet for outdoor enthusiasts.

For Costa, conservation is all about sustainable fishing. Many fisheries that should be vibrant and healthy are all but devoid of native fish because they have fallen victim to poor fishing practices, unregulated development, lack of watershed protection or all of the above. Costa works with partners around the world to help increase awareness and influence policy so that both the fish and fishermen of tomorrow will have healthy waters to enjoy. Costa encourages others to help in any way they can.
