Anglers Quest 2010 Houston Saturday Series Championship is now in the books, and the Saturday Series for Lake Houston is complete for 2010. The event began on Friday evening at Lake Houston Marina with the presentation of the special ” Anglers Quest Goal Post” to the new “2010 Anglers of the Year”, Tony Hawk & Jeremy Murray, they will receive free paid entries to all A/Q Houston Saturday Series Events in 2011. The Calcutta Auction followed and sold teams from $50 to $510 and raised $4475.00 to add to the anglers pot. As at all Anglers Quest Championship auctions, there were 10 Limit Stix American Rodsmiths rods auctioned off to raise $ for the “Tournament of Champions” coming up at Lake Palestine in November.

The weather was clear and very nice on Saturday with high 50’s at daybreak to low 80’s during the day with a light southerly breeze for the event on Lake Houston. As the event got underway with the 22 qualified teams taking off into the dim morning light after the playing of the National Anthem at 6:55 am. The anglers were all going for the $11,130.00 purse that was the payback by Anglers Quest at this Championship event. The water at Lake Houston was in very good shape and was at approximately 1/2 ft below normal pool level. At the end of the day the 22 teams brought in 12 limits of bass, 75 fish that totaled 165.73 lbs with a 2.20 avg.

The team of Albert White from Houston & Chris DiBerardino from Huffman brought in a limit of 5 bass at 9.29 lbs to collect the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates.

Dean Coleman & Jimmy Emmons Jr fished this event and brought in 5 bass at 11.81 lbs to claim 5th place and $355.00.

The team of Russell Traylor from Huffman & Bryan Stevens from Crosby ran their bass rig all over Lake Houston and came to the scales with 5 bass at 12.29 lbs to give them a 4th place finish and collected $700.00. They did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $110.00 BUT Jason Reyes did and laid claim to $760.00 for their 4th place finish.

The team of Josh Ware & Tommy Kingston from New Caney brought in a 5 bass limit at 12.45 lbs and claimed 3rd place and $900.00. They did purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $110.00 and received another check for $895.00 giving them a total for the day at $1745.00.

The team of Mark Rouse from League City & Randy Quin from Huffman brought in 5 bass at 12.59 lbs and claimed 2nd place and $1100.00. Mark & Randy did not purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $220.00 BUT Jason Reyes did and received a check for $1120.00. Mark & Randy did have the 2nd BB of the event at a fine 4.20 lber and collected an additional $440.00 for that one bite, giving them a total payday for the weekend of $1540.00.

The team of Danny StAndrie from Huffman & John Littleton from Humble ran Danny’s BassCat/Mercury to south lake areas in 1-4 ft water and put together a nice limit of 5 bass that tipped the scales at 15.22 lbs to finish 1st in this event and collected $2200.00. They caught all their bass on Tx tungsten weighted soft plastics & Stanley Jigs. John did catch the 1st Big Bass of the event on a soft plastic beaver type bait that tipped the scales at 4.28 lbs and received $660.00 for that one bite. They did purchase their team in the Calcutta auction for $260.00 and received an additional $1700.00 for their 1st place finish. Danny & John received a Total check for $4560.00…..not bad for 1 day of fishin, Good Job Guys!!

Anglers Quest 2011 Schedules are now available online at the anglers-quest website. The 1st events for the 2011 season will be the Saturday Series Team event on Sam Rayburn, January 8, & the Individual event on January 9, 2011.
