45 teams converged on the beautiful Tomahawk area for the last of 4 Central Wisconsin River Series Qualifiers presented by MinnKota, Humminbird and The Stevens Point Brewery.
Andy Dassow and Robin Pester took top honors for the second time this year in a qualifier! They previously won at the Lake Nokomis Qualifier- so the Tomahawk area has been real good to them!
Up for grabs were cash payouts for the top 7 teams and five very coveted spots in the two-day Championship to be held back on Lake Mohawksin in late September.
The top five finishers at the Lake Mohawksin event were:
Andy Dassow and Robin Pester finished first with 13.53 pounds, Todd Holtman and Joe Heitschmidt took second place with 13.01 lbs., in third place was Dan Hofmann and Kris Hanes with 12.70 lbs., Scott and Kyle Kettenhoven finished in fourth place with 12.38 lbs., fifth place went to Yeng and John Thao with 12.22 lbs.
“The venue was absolutely fantastic” said Tournament Director Mike Hofmann. “The City of Tomahawk- the Hotels- and especially the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce made us feel so very welcome. We look forward to coming back for the Championship in September!”
Big Bass of the day was a 4.82 lb Smallmouth caught by the team of Todd Holtman and Joe Heitschmidt.
The teams generously donated some much needed non-perishable food to the Merrill Food Pantry at the Mohawksin event. Crystal Finishing Systems Inc. donated some much needed monetary funds as well!
36 teams have now qualified for the two-day Championship to be held September 26th and 27th on Lake Mohawksin. The weigh-in will be held at Veterans Memorial Park each day of the Championship and will start at 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend
