Mother Nature smiled on C.A.S.T./North couples Sunday as they set off for the first tournament of the season. A cold front blew in Saturday with 35 – 40 MPH winds and ugly overcast skies, swamping a boat at the launch site and promising a bleak tournament day.However, at launch time the winds had calmed, and the white caps had subsided, so Mother Nature decided to throw in a Blue Bird Sky just to make catching her Bass a little more difficult.
David and Tammy Waller claimed first place with a stringer weight of 13.50 Lbs. David and Tammy were fishing shallow grassy areas with spinnerbaits. David was using a small white bait that had landed 2 keepers. Always the team player, David shared the only bait the fish were hitting with Tammy and she boated 3 more keepers for a first place check of $600.00.
Robert and Robbie Brooks, one of C.A.S.T./North’s new couples from Ardmore, OK., were also fishing spinnerbaits around small stick-ups and managed to bring 5 fish to the scales for a Second place stringer weight of 13.45 Lbs, giving the Waller’s a close run for the money.
A father and daughter team Chris and Brittany Forner had Big Bass of the tournament, a nice Black that weighed in at 4.00 Lbs. “This was Brittany’s first tournament and she was a great net person” Chris proudly stated. Brittany was wearing a T-shirt with “Angel” across the front and on this day she was definitely daddy’s little angel.
