Providing a positive contribution for economic improvements of Jasper County, and surrounding Lake Sam Rayburn area business interests, Dawson Marine of Jasper and Beaumont TX, donated a $5,000 check to the Umphrey Family Pavilion. The $5,000 donation will be used by the LSRPA (Lake Sam Rayburn Pavilion Assn;) in an ongoing effort of providing a class-A events facility for Lake Sam Rayburn.
The donation came about from working a sales format that would help raise needed funds for the Pavilion by receiving “discounted” boats from the Skeeter, Triton, and Champion boat manufacturers. The discounted boats are then sold at market prices and whatever is received above the “discounted” costs becomes the donation.
Lamar Jeffcoat, of Spurger TX, bought the first, of these three “special boats”, a fully rigged Skeeter TZX200/200 EFI-Yamaha bass boat valued at $31,000, and rigged with 2 Lowrance X-125 sonars, an 80 lb Thrust Minnkota Troll-motor, and a 1440 in-dash Lowrance sonar. Lamar, owner/operator of “Jeffcoat Services”, an oilfield supply company, planned on returning to fishing and decided to buy a boat to enhance and speed up that plan. Dawson Marine in Jasper was his first stop and the rest became history.
“We sincerely appreciate this very generous donation from Mr Doyle Dawson, of Dawson Marine, lauded Mr Nelson Burton of the LSRPA, and we really thank Mr. Jeffcoat for his decision to buy one of the “special boats” for assisting our cause.”
Now only two of these “special boats” are left to sell, a fully-rigged Triton TR-21X/225 HPDI Yamaha bass boat valued at $36,000, and a Champion 206ELITE w/ 2004 Yamaha VX250TLRC valued at $36,900.
