Anglers Quest Rayburn Saturday Series #2
Anglers Quest 2012 Lake Houston Saturday Series #2 out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, Tx began this event with 46 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $3105.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the 8 Lake Houston Team Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Houston Championship. The top team in points after all 8 events will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2013 Houston Team Series events. The teams entering all 8 Houston Team series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Team Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon. This 2nd event of 2012 was started at 6:35 am. Lake Houston water was in very muddy shape and at approximately 1 ft above normal pool and rising with water temps ranning 52-53 degrees. The weather at takeoff was very stormy and rainy 47 degrees with a warming to 63 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was slow on Lake Mud today as there were only 1 limit brought to the scales, for a total of 33 bass at 80.53 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.44 lb.
The Team of Dean Coleman & Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, Tx ran Dean’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to Luces Bayou on the north end of the lake to catch their bass throwing spinner baits, tx rigged brushhogs, frogs and senko’s in 1-6 ft of water using their G-Loomis Rods & Shimano reels. They managed to cull 1 time to finish with 13.81 lbs. One of their bites was the Big Bass of the event, a fine 4.02 lber caught on a watermelon red Senko. This win made them $1415.00 for their day on the water.
The team of James Chandler from Liberty, Tx & Sandro Alfaro from Hull, Tx ran James’s BassCat/Mercury bass rig to Luces Bayou. They finished in 2nd with their best 4 bass caught with worms & small cranks in 1-5 ft water that tipped the scales at 10.96 lbs. Their day on the lake paid back $700.00 for their efforts.
The team of Tony Hawk & Jeremy Murray finished in 3rd with 4 bass at 9.47 lbs and collected $500.00. The team of Travis Robinson & Ruben DeLeon finished in 4th with 7.14 lbs and collected $250.00.
