For the past several years the winning weights on Lake Richland Chambers have steadily been going down. Some fishermen were even writing off the lake as a “has-been”. However Diane & Rayford Richman turned all of that around on Sunday when they weighed in 21.49 pounds and had a 9.28lb. kicker. But they were not alone with several bass in the 5,6 and 7 pound range being brought to the scales. It was like the old Richland/Chambers and took over 8 pounds just to get a check. Last year 2.5 pounds was in the money.
Diane & Rayford Richman of Scurry landed their limit of bass on a variety of lures including spinnerbaits, and lizards. Rayford said that the weather, which was forecasted as rain and high winds all week, cooperated and allowed them to fish all over the lake in putting together their limit of fish. They took home a check for $1,035.00 for their effort.
Bob & Charlene Way of Frankston were second with a solid 5 fish bag going 20.80 pounds. Bob said that they also could fish anywhere that they wanted and that they culled several fish in reaching their 20 pounds.
Steve and Debbie Heck of Mansfield were third with 17.60 pounds and had the second big bass of the tournament with a fish going over 7 pounds. Steve said that he had located a truly big bass on Saturday and then watched another team fishing another tournament go in and catch the fish.
Rounding out the top six teams were Jim Withrow of Rowlet with 14.76; Bob & Donna Starford of Plano with 14.14 pounds; Tommy & Darlene Childs of Tool with 12.62 pounds.
