Doug and Bettie Taylor Claim Win on Martin Creek

C.A.S.T. ArkTex Region’s first tournament for 2002 was held on Martin Creek. What started out to be a very nippy 44 morning turned into a nice 76 day. Our wonderful friend, the wind, came out to make sure that we moved around the lake constantly (somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 mph).

Fishing was extremely slow. Doug and Bettie Taylor won the tournament with 3 fish weighing in at 9.22 lbs. Wes & I landed in second place with 2 fish weighing 7.96 lbs, with the big bass of the tournament making up 4.54 lbs of the weight. Mike and Sharon Stroman came in third with two fish weighing 6.99 lbs. All in all the day turned out to be pretty nice.February 24, 2002 Martin Creek tournament results:

Our March tournament will take place on Lake Wright Patman in Texarkana on Sunday, March 24th. We will register at the ramp beginning at 6:00 am Sunday morning. Launch site and weigh in site will be Piney Point Landing (Ramp 1). All boats will be able to take off at 7:00 am and must be in the weigh in line by 3:00 pm. Anyone needing directions to the ramp can call and Wes will give you directions. We hope you all have a safe and productive fishing day.
