Excitement Builds for the Texas Lunker Challenge Presented by Mossy Oak Elements

Sam Rayburn Reservoir to Host Event February 11th $5000 in prizes awarded to biggest fish of the day

The excitement continues to build for the upcoming Texas Lunker Challenge Presented by Mossy Oak Elements being held on Sam Rayburn Reservoir on February 11, 2018.   This will be both the first televised event of the 2018 Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, and one of the first events of the year to count for double points in Cabela’s School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.

“Sam Rayburn is one of the best bass fishing lakes in the nation and we’re excited to have it host this unique one day collegiate bass fishing shootout.  This event will allow college anglers to fish for not only a wide array of prizes, but also pick up valuable Cabela’s School of Year points while gaining exposure for the college programs,” said Wade Middleton, Director of ACA and President of CarecoTV.

The Texas Lunker Challenge presented by Mossy Oak Elements is a new event this season and will be the first stop on the 2018 Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series schedule. This will also mark the first time the Series visits the famed Sam Rayburn Reservoir.

The format is simple – each angler will fish a full day and then weigh in their best catch of the day. Every fish weighed-in will be ranked, with points awarded to the top two fish per school and will count towards Cabela’s School of the Year. With 500 points on the line for 1st place, all anglers are encouraged to weigh in their fish for the standings as each school’s top two fish will earn points and there is no limit to the number of prizes a school’s team can win. The top 40 fish of the event will be awarded a wide array of prizes to include $5000 in prizes.

Anglers will have the opportunity to fish from safe-light until 3:00PM with the scales opening at 1:00PM and remaining open until 4:00PM at Umphrey Pavilion.

Make sure to check out the rules and Angler Packet for more information on the Texas Lunker Challenge. See you on Sam Rayburn!
