2004 The Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) is pleased to announce that R. Peter Van Gytenbeek has been hired as Chief Executive Officer. FFF Board of Directorรญs President Gary Grant made the announcement stating ‘Pete (Van) has proven business, leadership, and development skills. He is currently a member of the Fish and Game Commission for the State of Washington. He is a past president of the Federation of Fly Fishers and served as the Executive Director of Trout Unlimited. His business wisdom coupled with his knowledge of the Federation of Fly Fishers and its membership will serve him well as he guides us in charting the course of fly fishing.’
As the former publisher of Fly Fishing in Salt Water magazine Van Gytenbeek brings to the FFF a deep understanding of all aspects of fly fishing. Long known as a dedicated fisheries conservationist, Pete was a founder of the Wild Trout Symposia series and serves on the Board of Directors of the Trout and Salmon Foundation. His recent advocacy for wild steelhead in Washington State has lead to new conservation actions that will benefit all anglers.
Van Gytenbeek has assumed his new duties and will operate from the FFF’s Bozeman MT headquarters beginning in mid June.
The FFF has also announced that interim Executive Director Bob Wiltshire will become Chief Operating Officer for the FFF. Wiltshire previously served as Director of the FFFรญs Fly Fishing Discovery Center in Livingston, MT and directed FFF conservation and education programs.
The Federation of Fly Fishers is a 39 year old membership organization that works to conserve, restore and educate through fly fishing. With sub-units and members from coast to coast, the FFF is the only organization that advocates for fly anglers in all waters.
