Finding Largemouth in Large Lakes — up North

My name’s Harmon Davis, I’m a Yamaha Pro team member. Anytime you go north and you’re fishing for large mouth, in lakes like Champlain or Erie, the main key to finding them is to get out on the edge of the flats, and take a lot of time to chartreuse or anything that’s kind of bright colored, and cover a lot of water with it. Use a spinner bait that’s about 1/2 or 3/4 ounce with #3 or #4 Tandem Willow Leaf blades is the key. You just throw it out, crank it as hard as you can crank it, pause it every once in awhile, and the fish will either show themselves by coming up and looking at it or they’ll come up and just annihilate it. And that’s one of the keys in finding the fish and once you find them you can switch to a tube or a small jig to fill your live well.By: Walker Agency
