On October 30, Johanna Laderman, executive director, FishAmerica Foundation (FAF), was honored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for her work with the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program and her collaborative efforts and partnership in supporting aquatic habitat restoration throughout the Northeast. Laderman accepted the Fisheries and Habitat Conservation (FHC) Partner Award during the USFWS’s Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program’s 20th Anniversary Conference and Training in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The award was presented by Mamie Parker, Ph.D., assistant director, USFWS’s Fisheries and Habitat Conservation Program, at the Partners award luncheon during the anniversary celebration. The USFWS established the FHC Partner Awards to recognize outstanding partners whose work clearly provides significant benefits to the American people through fisheries and habitat conservation. The award honors those who are working to sustain and enhance fish, wildlife and their habitats, and to engage citizens in the shared stewardship of the nation’s natural resources. Laderman was one of eight partnership award recipients.
“FishAmerica and the USFWS’s Partners program have awarded more than $1 million for fisheries restoration projects in the northeast,” said Laderman. “The partnership allows us to maximize our dollars for these conservation efforts.”
Laderman took the helm as director of FAF in 2003, after serving several years as the foundation’s grants administrator. Since 2003, the foundation has increased the dollar amount in grant funding to over $1 million for projects in all 50 states and Canada.
