Fishing on the Edge

Anytime you go north to fish for large mouth, in lakes like Champlain or Erie, the main key to finding them is to get out on the edge of the flats and take a lot of time to shark cruise or anything that’s kind of bright colored, and cover a lot of water with it. Spinner bait that’s about 1/2 or 3/4 ounce #3 or #4 Tandem Willow Leaf blades work well. You just throw it out, crank it as hard as you can crank it, pause it every few seconds, and the fish will either show themselves by coming up and looking at it or they’ll come up and just annihilate it. And that’s one of the keys, and a lot of times once you find them you can throw a tube or a small jig. That’s the best way I know on how to find these fish.By: Walker Agency
