C.A.S.T. ArkTex Region’s second tournament for 2002 was held on Lake Wright Patman. It was a very exciting day for Floyd & Ruth Berry. Ruth can now boast that she caught a “much” larger fish than Floyd: she landed an 8.37 lb. Bass to take Big Bass of the tournament.
According to Ruth, she should not have caught the fish. Her small spinner bait was mangled and the fish was barely holding on. Floyd never takes Ruth seriously when she says “Get the Net!”
This time Floyd got a good look at the fish before Ruth and she said that he literally scooped up the net and cleared both consoles in one leap and had the fish netted at record speed. Good Job Floyd! Sometimes two is better than one and the two of them were definitely a winning pair that day.
Everyone said that the fishing was great. Most couples were culling fish by 10:00 am. Floyd & Ruth won the tournament with 5 fish weighing 23.63 lbs. Wes Lindsey landed in second place with 5 fish weighing 20.93 lbs. Johnny Robison came in third with 5 fish weighing 17.68 lbs.
