Tune in Sunday, March 19, to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the conclusion of the $1.25 million Chevy Open from Lake Murray. Watch as co-hosts Charlie Evans and Keith Lebowitz take viewers through the final weigh-in and award the winning pro angler $200,000. The one-hour show is the second of a two-part series covering the second event of the $7.6 million Wal-Mart FLW Tour season.
The March 19 show presents several mini-features with the 10 pros that made the cutoff after two days of competition. The features include Evinrude pro Anthony Gagliardi and Wet Ones pro Brennan Bosley.
In the past few seasons, Gagliardi has firmly established himself as one of the best bass anglers in the world. Hailing from Prosperity, S.C., Lake Murray is Gagliardi’s home lake, and he’s one of the hottest deep-water anglers on tour at the moment. During the two-day opening round, Gagliardi caught 10 bass weighing 41 pounds, 14 ounces by fishing a black, 1/2-ounce All-Terrain jig on deep-water points. Three years ago at the Lake Murray FLW Tour event, Gagliardi just missed the cutoff in 11th place. Watch as this hometown hero looks for redemption in the final round.
Bosley, the Benton, Ark., native, has fished FLW Outdoors events since 1999, earning more than $210,000. At the Chevy Open, Bosley secured his berth in the final round, the seventh top-10 performance of his career, by cranking a Bomber Deep Flat A with 10-pound fluorocarbon line. Searching for reaction bites, Bosley was bumping his bait over rocks in about 7 feet of water. Bosley caught just four bass weighing 11 pounds, 5 ounces on day one, but rallied on day two with a five-bass limit that weighed 26 pounds, 5 ounces.
FSN also features Snickers pro John Sappington, who won the 2002 FLW Tour Championship and has earned more than $430,000 fishing professionally. After suffering a serious spinal injury, Sappington has returned to form, catching 10 bass over two days that weighed 24 pounds, 12 ounces, which earned the Willard, Mo., pro a $10,000 check.
In addition, pro Sean Hoernke of Magnolia, Texas, participates in this edition of Fishing 101. Hoernke, who took eighth place at the season-opening FLW Tour event on Lake Okeechobee, simplifies the often complicated crankbait selection process. Hoernke distills the process down to two different shapes and three different color schemes that can carry a crankbait angler through the whole year.
