‘FLW OUTDOORS’ AIRS WAL-MART FLW TOUR EVENT ON PICKWICK LAKE

April 2 show to highlight $900,000 event; concludes with crowning of co-angler champion

Tune in Sunday, April 2, to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN as Charlie Evans and Keith Lebowitz host the third event of the 2006 Wal-Mart FLW Tour season from Pickwick Lake in Florence, Ala. The $900,000 tournament, which was presented by A&W Root Beer, awarded the winning bass pro a cash prize of $100,000.

The one-hour show is the first of a two-part series covering the third event of the $7.6 million FLW Tour season. The tournament featured 400 anglers from 37 states, Japan, Canada and Australia, with 200 of the world’s best bass pros fishing for a top award of $100,000 cash while 200 co-anglers vied for a top award of $20,000 cash.

The April 2 show presents several mini-features with the 10 pros that made the cut after two days of competition. The features include Ranger pro Rob Kilby of Hot Springs, Ark.,; Ozark Trail pro Andy Morgan of Dayton, Tenn.; and Wet Ones pro Brennan Bosley of Benton, Ark.

Kilby caught a two-day total of eight bass weighing 31 pounds, 10 ounces to lead the opening round. Kilby, who has earned more than $375,000 fishing the FLW Tour, caught most of his keepers by working a suspended jerkbait pattern and by throwing a jig. Watch as this veteran pro carries this momentum into the final round.

Morgan caught a first-round total of nine bass weighing 22 pounds, 14 ounces, which put him in fifth place after two days of competition. In his FLW Outdoors career, Morgan has earned more than $390,000 and has qualified for the top 10 and amazing 32 times. In his latest top-10 performance, Morgan caught the bulk of his keepers on a War Eagle jig with a Zoom Super Chunk trailer.

Bosley is in the midst of his best season on tour. At the recent Chevy Open on Lake Murray, he took second and collected $100,000 with a final-round total of 10 bass weighing over 45 pounds. At Pickwick Lake, Bosley quickly picked up where he left off catching five bass that weighed 16 pounds, 4 ounces on day one. At the season’s midpoint, Bosley sits in third place in the Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year race.

FSN also features pro angler Clay Dyer of Hamilton, Ala., who is making his FLW Tour debut. Dyer has spent his life confined to a wheelchair without arms or legs, yet that has not stopped him from becoming a successful pro angler. An inspiration to everyone, Dyer taught himself the art of angling without any special equipment.

Additionally, co-angler Trevor Jancasz, a resident of White Pigeon, Mich., participates in this edition of Fishing 101. Jancasz, a new member of the Wal-Mart pro angling team, takes viewers on a shopping trip to Wal-Mart to pick up all the necessary gear to fish Pickwick Lake.
