‘FLW Outdoors’ to Air Conclusion of Wal-Mart Open on FSN

Winner of Beaver Lake showdown to be revealed Sunday

Tune in to “FLW Outdoors” Sunday to find out which Wal-Mart FLW Tour pro will leave northwest Arkansas’ Beaver Lake $200,000 richer. In addition to tournament coverage of the tour’s annual Wal-Mart Open, viewers will be treated to several feature segments during the May 14 program beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern time on FSN (Fox Sports Net).

On top of the $200,000 top award for the pro winner of the Wal-Mart Open powered by Tyson, the winning co-angler receives $40,000 for outfishing the field. In addition to compelling bass-fishing competition, viewers will learn valuable fishing techniques and gain insight into the lives of the anglers on tour.

The public will hear from five pros leading the 2006 race to be crowned Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year. Sunday’s show also gives an update on 2004 Angler of the Year Shinichi Fukae of Mineola, Texas, who is on a tear again this year with a season-opening win on Lake Okeechobee, a third-place finish in the inaugural Wal-Mart FLW Series event and a berth into the Wal-Mart Open finals, positioning himself for a shot at yet another win.

Veteran pro Mark Rose of Marion, Ark., is excited to be back in the top 10 and inspired by the presence of his 97-year-old grandfather, who has made it to watch every cut his grandson has ever made. And tour namesake Forrest L. Wood, the legendary founder of Ranger Boats, relays a story about Flippin, Arkansas’ first traffic cop.

Castrol pro Carl Svebek III of Siloam Springs, Ark., shows the public how to catch the big ones on Beaver Lake using his signature Swebo worm during “Fishing 101,” while Bobby Curtis, another Team Castrol angler and resident of Siloam Springs, takes viewers on a tour of the Rogers area near Beaver Lake.

In addition, viewers will no doubt be inspired by Clay Dyer of Hamilton, Ala., who catches his first limit as an FLW Tour pro. The fact that Dyer was born without legs and part of only one arm does not slow him down a bit in his quest for Beaver Lake bass.
