‘FLW Outdoors’ to Televise Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series Event from Englewood

Tune in Sunday to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the $200,000 Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series event in Englewood, Fla. The second Eastern Division event of the $1.9 million FLW Redfish Series season concludes with the winning team claiming a cash prize of $37,500.

The “FLW Outdoors” saltwater series is a reality-format show told from the anglers’ perspective. Each week the top-five finalists are followed from takeoff to weigh-in, allowing the audience to feel the anglers’ nerves, listen to their strategy and learn from their mistakes. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

Sunday’s show follows Bo Johnson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Richard Hudec of Naples, Fla., who qualified for the finals in third place with a two-day total weight of 25 pounds even. The two were skipping 4-inch Berkley Gulp! shrimp and 5-inch Berkley Gulp! jerkbaits under mangrove trees in Pine Island Sound to attract their bites.

Finishing the opening round in second place was Jarrett Lombard of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Leland Symonds of Punta Gorda, Fla. The pair brought in consistent weights of 12 pounds, 14 ounces on day one and 12 pounds, 8 ounces on day two for a total of 25 pounds, 6 ounces.

FSN also follows Andrew Bostick of Marco Island, Fla., and Mark Sepe of Deland, Fla., as the two stake out reds in Pine Island Sound. Bostick and Sepe caught a two-redfish limit that weighed 12 pounds, 11 ounces on day two for an opening-round total of 25 pounds, 13 ounces.

The team was able to obtain their lead thanks to a little help from the fifth-place team of Jeff Totten of Englewood, Fla., and Ozzie Lessinger of Fort Myers, Fla., who also made the top-five cutoff. On both days one and two, the Bostick-Sepe and Totten-Lessinger teams hemmed up a large school of redfish between a series of grass beds and potholes “bumping” them back and forth to each other. Bostick has been using a 4-inch Berkley Gulp! shrimp in a root beer color, while Sepe has caught his fish on a Mister Twister Exude RT Slug in golden bream color.
