FLW Outdoors, TV To Preview 2004 EverStart Series Championship On Lake Cumberland

Don’t miss “FLW Outdoors” Sunday, Nov. 21, when the popular pro-fishing show previews the $335,975 EverStart Series Championship presented by Energizer. The show will air on the Outdoor Life Network at 1 p.m. EST.

On-the-water cameras will give viewers an intimate look at 10 pro anglers competing for a guaranteed cash award of $25,000 and a fully equipped Ranger boat powered by Evinrude or Yamaha. If the winner is a qualifying Ranger boat owner, he will receive an extra $10,000 in bonus cash from Ranger. The top co-angler will claim a fully rigged Ranger boat plus $10,000 cash. The top 40 pros and co-anglers from the Eastern, Central and Northern divisions of the EverStart Series and the top 30 from the Western Division, based on year-end points standings, are eligible to compete in the championship.

The full field of 150 pros and 150 co-anglers will compete during the two-day opening round to determine the top 10 pros and 10 co-anglers who will advance to the semifinal round based on their two-day accumulated weight. The 10 semifinalists in each division will start at zero on day three, and a co-angler champion will be crowned at that day’s weigh-in. The 10 pros will advance to the final round with the winner determined on day four by the heaviest two-day catch weight.

The site of the 2004 EverStart Series Championship is Lake Cumberland, a central Kentucky fishery that offers innumerable bays, inlets, hollows and other bends. The more than 1,200 miles of shoreline offer an array of cover as well as all three bass species.

The 150 qualifying pro anglers and 150 co-anglers start fishing Wednesday morning at General Burnside State Park in Burnside, Ky. Local Paducah, Ky., pro Terry Bolton expects a challenging bite with average daily catches of 6 to 7 pounds.

“In early November, it’s important that anglers stay flexible with their technique,” said Bolton, a Yamaha pro. “We don’t know if largemouths, smallmouths or spots will be the winning ticket. Conditions change so fast this time of year, you never know what pattern to fish.”

“FLW Outdoors” puts viewers in the boat with the pros, shadowing them from sunrise until the final weigh-in in front of a cheering crowd.

The Outdoor Life Network will broadcast “FLW Outdoors” on Sunday, Nov. 21, from 1-2 p.m. EST and again Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Check local listings for show times and channels in your area.

During each tournament show, “FLW Outdoors” TV hosts Carlton Wing and Taylor Carr will go on location to provide on-the-water coverage. While tournament weigh-ins will broadcast live at Wal-Mart stores throughout the country, “FLW Outdoors” will be tape-delayed by three weeks to bring audiences nationwide the best tournament footage possible throughout the season.
