The championship tournament for Arkansas’s Couples opened with wonderful conditions with temperatures in the 50’s to mid 70’s. The 14 couples in two days of tough fishing caught 76 fish weighing lbs 156.80 with 5/5 fish limits.
First were Spencer Grace and Desiree Mawk who weighed 9 bass at 20.78lbs to win the tournament and earn a total of $2605.They caught there fish using football jigs keying on pea gravel in scattered spots in the Kimberling City area of the lake. Desiree also caught big bass of the event at 4.15lbs on day one.
Second were Will and Roberta Cranston who used a drop shot to weigh their 10 fish at 20.07 and earn $1315. They also swam a tube through breaking fish to pick up a couple of key fish bring in the only limit on Sunday.
Third were 2011’s Angler’s of the year William and Amber Hope. They used Carolina rigs, football jigs, and Senkos to weigh 8 fish at 16.56lbs earn them $1697 for their efforts. $940 of their winnings were from buying 1st and 4th in the Calcutta.
