Anglers Quest 2010 Houston Weekend Team Series #8 out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, TX began this event with 34 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $2340.00 purse. This event got started at 6:30 am after the playing of the National Anthem. The weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Houston Weekend Team Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2011 Houston Weekend Team Series events.
FLASH — All A/Q lake series championships have been reinstated for 2010 and will be done on home series lakes. The teams qualifying for any championship will automatically qualify for all 4 lake series Championships. Top 25 in pounds from any Weekend Team with 5 events entered or 4 Individual Series with a minimum of 4 events entered will also qualify for championships. If you qualify for any A/Q Championship you will also qualify to go to the 2-day “Tournament of Champions” on November 13-14 on Lake Palestine.
Lake Houston water was in good shape and at about normal pool level with water temps ranning 86-88 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a very calm 71 degrees with a warming to 92 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was good on Lake Mud today as there were 5 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 46 bass at 91.74 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 1.99 lb.
The team leading for “Angler of the Year”, Tony Hawk & Jeremy Murray held off the charge of Dean Coleman & Jimmy Emmons Jr and will go into the final event in September with a 5.02 lb lead in the series.
The Team of Greg Crawford from Huffman & Tim Patterson from Kingwood ran Greg’s Bowden Marine BassCat/Mercury bass rig north to Luces Bayou & E Fork brush to catch their bass flipping tx rigged worms and throwing small cranks in 1-6 ft of water. Greg & Tim managed to catch 10-12 keepers to finish in 1st place with the best 5 that tipped the scales at 12.60 lbs. They made $1000.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Mike Dorcz from Humble & David Holst from Houston ran Mike’s Bullet/Mercury bass rig to north & south lake areas to probe shallow brush with their rods & reels to catch their bass flipping tx rigged worms and throwing small cranks and spinner baits in 1-4 ft of water. They managed to catch a limit keepers to finish in 2nd place with the best 5 that tipped the scales at 12.14 lbs. They also had the Big Bass of the day at 4.07 lbs. Their day on the water paid them $705.00.
The team of Chuck McClurkin & Doug Worzel from Humble ran Chuck’s Triton/Mercury bass rig to north lake docks & piers with brush to finish in 3rd with their best 5 bass, caught with a variety of lures that weighed in at 9.97 lbs. Their day on the lake payed back $350.00 for their efforts.
The team of Raymond Minchew & Russell Batchelor from Crosby ran their bass rig to north & south lake docks & piers to finish in 4th with their best 4 bass, caught on their rods & reels tipped with a variety of lures that weighed in at 9.43 lbs. Their day on the lake payed back $150.00 for their efforts.
The team of Danny StAndrie & John Littleton received the 1st place out of the money Santone & ZZ Lures Gift Certificates with 3 bass at 4.69 lbs. The entire results from this and all A/Q events put on by Anglers Quest can be viewed at the anglers-quest website.

On September 18th & 19th A/Q will be at Lake Conroe at El Dorado Jack’s for the final 2010 Individual Series on Saturday & the Team Series on Sunday. A/Q will be back at Lake Houston September 25th & 26th for the 9th & last Houston Weekend Team Series & Individual events for 2010.
