Faith, you know this is a big word when you think about it. Mr. Webster says that Faith is (1) belief; confidence, (2) loyalty, (3) religion, and well I guess you’re wondering now what in the world does this have to do with fishing. Well, it has everything to do with fishing and normal every day life. Having Faith means you must believe in things that you can’t see such as God. You can’t see God but he is there in your every day life, he shows you the way to get to where you are going but it is up to us to make the right decisions to make it all happen. Now another word for belief is Confidence. Having Confidence in something enough will help you succeed in everything you do.
Now let me tell you what I mean by Faith. Did you ever get up in the morning and say to yourself I’m going catching today? Well if you have that meant you had confidence that you could and would catch fish that day. So many fishermen out there to day wonder just how others go fishing and catch fish every time they go and they catch none. Well it is called Faith they have Faith in the lures they fish, Faith in themselves in the choices they make whether to fish slow or fast or on top or on bottom and in the locations they fish and this means everything in fishing.
Now let’s talk about lures. Do you have lures that you feel more comfortable fishing with and do they produce more fish for you when you fish with them? I know I sure do. Some fisherman like top-water lures others like worms, jigs and spinner baits. What it all amounts to is what you have the most confidence in and this is what you will do best on.
When you ask me what I like to fish with best. I would say that it would depend on the weather or maybe the time of year. I have lures that I prefer to fish with just as most every fisherman on the water today, but where I differ from others is that I have trained myself to use and be confident in every lure I throw. When the new lures hit the market and it is a lure of some special type that I have never fished I will purchase it and fish with it and it alone until I am very confident that I can catch fish on it every time I go fishing.
I love fishing with spinner baits of all types, jigs, soft plastic worms of all types and top-water lures of all types. You can find hundreds of lures in every bait I mentioned and all will catch fish for you when used properly. I will rebuild lures to try and make them produce better for me to give me that extra edge over other fisherman. In my last article I mentioned my new Lake Fork 430 special spinner bait, I also mentioned my Dimple Spoon and my Bug Eyed Jigs and last but sure not least the spin-top jig.
When you fish this new spinner bait of mine you will fall in love with it. The Lake Fork 430 Special has more vibration than any other spinner bait of its kind. The 430 Special comes with 24k gold blades a special skirt and trailer and a special no chip painted head. With all these quality’s you will agree that this is not just spinner bait but a fish catching super spinner bait.
The Lake Fork 430 Special Spinner Bait is probably my number one lure to fish through out the entire year. I use this lure every time I fish in water depths of one to six foot. I have landed five bass over ten pounds and several others in the five to eight pound range. When I fish this bait I have Faith that I will catch bass every time I go fishing.
Now here is a bait I will use when I fish in deep water, it is called the Dimple Spoon. The Dimple Spoon is great for bass, white bass and Hybrid stripers. The Dimple Spoon is great for casting or jigging. With the Dimple Spoon you can fish the deep water creek channels or the main lake points it works well which ever way you choose to fish it.
The Dimple Spoon has a shinny silver flash as it falls and comes with a VMC Treble hook and a ball bearing swivel to stop line twist. The Dimple Spoon comes in three sizes 1/4oz.,1/2oz. and a 3/4oz. size. When you fish this spoon you will know why it is my deep water go to bait.
We have the New Year ahead of us so try different things this year.
