Heaviest Stringer Of The Year Insures Davis Burden And Dianne Garman Of The Win In Richland-Chambers Tournament.

The forecast on Saturday night for the tournament on Sunday was for wind of 25 to 30 mph, violent thunderstorms, and the temperature was expected to reach the high 90’s. As tournament fisherman, just another day on the lake. However, we woke to a sunny sky, very light winds, and mild temperate. This was just the start of the good things that awaited the CAST couples at our Richland-Chambers tournament. We had our heaviest bag of fish weighed in this year when Davis Burden and Dianne Garman came to the scales with 5 fish weighing a total of 27.24 lbs. They caught most of these monsters on various top water baits in 2 to 4 feet of water. They used everything from Pop-R’s to buzz baits.

We also had some personal records set when Barbara Curtis landed the biggest bass of her life. An 8.29 pounder, that came on a red-shad worm in only 1-foot of water. This fish not only was the big bass of the tournament, but came on the first cast after her husband, Gary, had gotten hung up, leaned to far out of the boat and fail in the lake. He was busy trying to dry out his wallet when she hooked the fish. Several of the other good bags of fish were caught by Carolina fishing points and roadbeds. Almost all of the teams weighed fish at this tournament.

The top six places went to;

  • Davis Burden & Dianne Garman, 27.24;
  • Paul & Renee Hanna, 23.19;
  • Allen & Robin Little,15.04;
  • Bill & Audrey Gammons, 11.01;
  • Joey & Jeannie Bryant, 10.33;
  • Gary & Barbara Curtis, 10.14
