Islamorada All Tackle Tournament Now a Bonefish & Permit Championship Slated

Competitive newcomers can face off with seasoned veterans during the newly formatted Islamorada All-Tackle Bonefish & Permit Championship scheduled Oct. 13-16.

Up to 25 participants can fish in the tournament known locally as the “Fall All-Tackle.” One angler per boat pairs with a licensed captain to vie for division winners’ trophies.

Permit has been added to the 2013 challenge for the first time, and the three largest bonefish and three largest permit are to be scored by length, not weight.

A rules meeting and kick-off cocktail party and dinner are set for Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Islamorada Fishing Club, mile marker 82 bayside.

Daily breakfast is to be provided at the neighboring Lorelei Restaurant & Cabana Bar with boats’ departure to follow.

Scoring, post-fishing cocktails and an awards dinner are to be held at the Islamorada Fishing Club.

Awards are to be given for the most releases in bait, artificial and fly divisions, as well as for the largest bonefish and permit. A newcomer award also is to be presented.

Entry fee is $850 per angler, and registrations must be received by Aug. 15.
