Anglers Quest Houston Team Saturday #5
Anglers Quest 2013 Lake Houston Saturday #5 out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, Tx began this event with 60 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $5045.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the 8 Lake Houston Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Houston Championship. The top team in points after 8 events will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2014 Houston Saturday Series events. The teams entering all 8 Houston Saturday series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lake Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 23-27 at Toledo Bend.
This 5th event of 2013 was started at 5:55 am. Lake Houston water was in good shape and at approximately 1 1/2 feet below normal pool level with water temps ranning 79-81 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 70 degrees with a warming to 90 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was very good on Lake Mud today as there were 17 limits brought to the scales for a total of 114 bass at 308.88 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.70 lb.
The team of James Chandler from Liberty, Tx & Sandro Alfaro from Hull, Tx ran James’s BassCat/Mercury bass rig to north lake creeks to catch their bass throwing tx rigged secret baits in 1-4 ft of water. They managed to catch and cull from 3 limits of bass to finish with a great sack at 18.69 lbs. They also had the Big Bass of the event at 5.90 lbs. This win made them $2150.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Dean Coleman & Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, Tx ran Dean’s Ranger bass rig to north & south lake creeks to catch their bass throwing tx rigged brush hogs in 1-6 ft of water. They managed to catch many keepers to finish with a sack of 5 bass at 16.95 lbs. This 2nd place finish made them $1000.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Albert White & Bill Harlan from Crosby, Tx finished in 3rd with their best 5 bass caught with tx rigged worms & spinner baits in 1-5 ft water in the East Fork and Luces Bayou that tipped the scales at 16.64 lbs. They collected $800.00 for their efforts.
The team of Randy Quin from Huffman, Tx & Mark Rouse from League City, Tx finished in 4th with 5 bass at 16.31 lbs and collected $400.00.
The team of Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx & Kary Essl from Crosby, Tx finished in 5th with 15.07 lbs to collect $300.00. The team of John Littleton & Jerry Wade finished in 6th and collected $200.00.
Mike & Matthew Dorcz received the Gift cards for their 12th place finish from Martel Welding Works. The 1st place out of the money at all A/Q events this year will receive $50.00 gift cards from Martels Welding Works towards the purchase of a Rhino spray in Bed Liner. You must be present at weigh in to collect the gift cards or they are passed to the next boat.

Anglers Quest will be back on Lake Houston for the 10th & 11th of 23 Tuesday evening events on May 28th & June 4th. Anglers Quest will be back at The Umphrey Pavilion on Sam Rayburn on June 1st & 2nd for the 6th of 8 Sam Rayburn Saturday & Individual Series events. On June 8th Anglers Quest will be back at Lake Livingston for the 6th of 8 Saturday Series events. On June 9th A/Q will be back at Lake Houston for the 6th Individual event of the year. Then A/Q will be back on Lake Houston on June 11th & 18th for the 12th & 13th of the 23 Tuesday events.
NOTE Anglers Quest in an effort to increase entries in the Individual Series events on Lake Livingston & Lake Houston has switched the dates of the 2 series events to make the Individual events not fall on the same weekend as the Team events. The 3 remaining Livingston Individual events will be on June 23-July 21-August 18. The 3 remaining Houston Individual events will be on June 9-July 14-August 4. We do hope this change does not cause anyone any inconvenience… we are trying to make these 2 series better for you and A/Q.
