The 2010 Anglers Quest Tournament of Champions is now in the books, and all Series are complete for 2010. This event was made up from the 55 qualifiers from each of Anglers Quest 10 Series of events. The event began on Thursday evening with the attending qualified 55 teams coming together for a meeting and Calcutta auction at the host headquarters, The Lake Palestine Resort in Frankston, Texas. A/Q would like to Thank Larry & Norma Paxton and all their staff at The Resort for their 1st class hospitality. A/Q also wants to thank the Frankston Chamber of Commerce for welcoming all the anglers to their city. The meeting began at 6:00 pm and Calcutta auction followed and sold teams from $50.00 to $1010.00 and raised $10,475.00 to add to the angler’s pot. This Tournament of Champions event paid out a total of $30,475.00 to the anglers. A/Q also wants to make note of the Great job that Earl….the Resort Desk Clerk did, converting to a Weigh Master to help out!!
Ms. Barbara threw a large amount of Royal Purple hats & Bill Lewis Rattle Traps to the crowd of over 100 for their taking at the Thursday evening meeting & Calcutta.
Weather conditions on day 1 was great weather with a brisk breeze and mostly cloudy skies and about 48 degrees at take off, temps rose into the mid 60’s by weigh in time. On day 2 the weather was very very foggy at take off which was delayed for about 20 minutes, the temp had fallen over night to 38 degrees. The fish catching was really good for most, but keepers were hard to come by. Most teams reported expectations of big and heavy limits of bass. But the bite was a lot tougher than expected after the lake got hammered in practice all week long and the anglers had to work hard to bring in a good limit of bass. On Saturday there were 29 limits brought to the scales, a total of 199 bass at 476.05 lbs making the average bass brought in weigh 2.39 lbs. On Sunday there were 25 limits, 143 bass at 356.26 lbs making the average bass brought in weigh 2.49 lbs.
The Team of Charlie Bebber from Willis, Tx & Keith Caka from Magnolia, Tx ran their bass rig to north lake areas and brought in a limit at 20.50 lbs to lead the troops on day 1. On day 2 they re-traced their trail and had another limit at 12.67 lbs to give them a 3rd place win with 33.17 lbs.
Tommy Bankhead from Crosby, Tx and R W Jaynes from Deer Park, Tx ran their bass rig to south side lake areas to probe the ditches, drains & points with their rods tipped with crawfish colored rattletraps to bring 18.55 lbs to the scales on day 1. On day 2 they brought in another 3 bass at 5.91 lbs to give them 8 bass at 24.46 lbs and 14th place. The team also had a 6.77 lber to anchor their great sack on day 1 and collected $110.00 for 3rd BB.
The team of Mark Rouse from League City, Tx and Randy Quin from Huffman, Tx ran Mark’s Ranger/Yamaha to the north end of the lake to bring back 17.83 lbs on day 1 and 12.77 lbs on day 2 to give them 30.60 lbs to secure 6th place and collect $1640.00.
The Team of Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, Tx and Jeff Stanley from Houston, Tx had 5 bass on day 1 for a total of 17.75 lbs with a giant of 8.42 lbs and on day 2 they had another limit at 13.32 lbs for a 10 bass total of 30.07 lbs for a 4th place finish to collect $1660.00. Chris DiBerardino purchased Jimmy & Jeff at the Calcutta for $260 and turned that into a check for himself of $1050.
The team of Chad Vincent & Brian Burleson from Crosby, Tx ran their bass rig to north lake areas to fish shallow water around grass with their American Rodsmiths rods tipped with ribbit baits and a yellow magic to bring 5 bass in on day 1 at 17.17 lbs and then on day 2 they brought in another 5 bass limit at 9.96 lbs to give them a 10 bass total of 27.13 lbs. Chad & Brian just missed getting a check by 1 spot finishing up in 11th place.
The Express/Yamaha team of David Curtis from Trinity, Tx & Mark Mueck from Livingston, Tx came to the scales on day 1 with 15.96 lbs and another limit of 21.02 lbs on day 2 to give the team a total of 10 bass at 36.98 lbs. They caught their bass using ??? in 2-6 ft water around grass. They took home $2830.00 for their efforts. They sold in the Calcutta to Ricky Guy for $1010.00 and made Ricky a $2620.00 pay check
The Tracker/Mercury team of Jason Reyes from Huffman, Tx & Waylon Hull from Humble, Tx ran Jason’s Tracker/Mercury to the north lake area to the back of Kickapoo creek to catch their two day 10 bass total of 31.01 lbs using H&H rods tipped with chatter baits & rattletraps to collect 5th place and $1840.00. There were 4 other places paid in this TOC event with all the results posted on the website.

Anglers Quest 2011 schedules are now available online at the anglers-quest website. The 1st event for the 2011 season will be the Saturday Series Team event on Sam Rayburn, January 8, 2011 and the Sam Rayburn Individual event on January 9, 2011 with entry at the Anglers Quest coach on the evening before the event or the morning of at Umphrey Pavilion or anytime by phone at 281-852-8842.
