Jill & Marty Sugg win Lake Fork event with lowest weight in CAST history

Fishing conditions were normal for a July tournament in Texas, hot and humid. Sweat was running off your forehead and down into your eyes almost before the tournament started. And for those who thought that their favorite deep-water hump or creek channel would pay off big today soon realized that this was not to be. What everyone thought would be a fairly easy tournament turned out to be the hardest in the 16 year history of CAST. At the lake that is world famous for its big bass, the CAST couples were not able to weigh in a single fish that went over the slot limit. This again has never happened in a CAST tournament in the past 16 years of fishing Lake Fork

However, we did have a winner and Marty & Jill Sugg of Paris, TX worked very, very hard and bested the rest of the field by catching a five fish limit going 6.53lbs. Marty credits a Horizon spinner-bait fished over submerged weeds to catching most of their fish.

Second place with four fish were Ronnie & Pam Wilson of Yantis with 5.35lbs. Ronnie said that they caught the fish all during the day instead of early morning as he expected.

Third place went to Charlie & Edwina Harper of Euless with three fish going 4.41 lbs. Edwina said that their fish all came early in the day under bridges.Rounding out the top six places are Ronnie & Margaret Sherbert of Ft. Worth, Allen & Robin Little of Garland, and Larry & Liz Petr of Dallas.

Thank you to our local 2000 CAST Northeast Sponsors, who without their support the CAST Northeast Region would not be what it is today. They are as follows:

THANK YOU; We would also like to say a very special thank you to RANGER BOATS. Ranger was the very first sponsor that CAST ever had. This is C.A.S.T.’s 16th season and for entire 16 years RANGER BOATS has been our boat sponsor. We first approached RANGER BOATS because of two reasons. We felt that they built the best bass boats being made at the time, and more importantly, it was the integrity of the people who worked at RANGER. They stood firmly behind their product. Well, 16 years later, and I can only say that RANGER BOATS still builds the best bass boat being made today. Their integrity, it’s still there as are most of the same people that we started dealing with 16 years ago. And again, no one stands behind their boats like RANGER. I know that this sounds like an endorsement of Ranger Boats, but it is not. It is an endorsement of a true and long time friend of CAST. They have never hesitated in helping us make CAST what it is today. You can truly depend on RANGER BOATS and the people who build them.

We would also like to thank the following CAST Organization Sponsors: Mercury Outboard Motors, Quantum Rods and Reels, MotorGuide Trolling Motors, Trailer Armor, Berkley Products, Luxor Custom Jewelers, Continental Batteries, Eagle Claw Fishing Tackle, The Shad Connection/Discount Marine Supplies, J & G Enterprises, Horizon Lure Co., Lucky Craft Baits. Don’t forget to thank and support those who support CAST.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
