The National Boat Mart – TVA Bass Series held it’s 7th event of 2004 on Lake Shafer. The fishing was slow but someone always gets on them.
That someone was none other that Schereville, Indiana’s John Cullum. Let’s face it, with a name like Cullum, you’ve just got to be good. The 2003 NBM-TVA Bass Championship winner brought in a limit of bass weighing in at 10.92 pounds. Cullum reported catching the majority of his fish from the Big Monon tributary. In September, Cullum will be defending his title championship title, and by the looks of how he outdistanced the field in this one he’ll be more than ready.
Big Bass Honors went to Flora, Indiana’s Ben Grayless with a 3.70 pound largemouth. He caught the tournament’s Big Bass with a spinnerbait.
In second place was Logansport, Indiana’s John Sabatini. The series finesse fishing guru of light line reeled in a five bass tournament limit that weighed 7.68 pounds. Sabatini caught all his fish on soft plastics in cuts. Sabatini is sponsored by: Gamakstu, Spro, Falcon, Okuma, Skeeter/Yamaha and National Boat Mart.
In third was Wheatfield, Indiana’s Dave call with 4 bass weighing in at 6.86 pounds. Rounding out the Top-5 was Monticello, Indiana’s Rod Coffing 4th with 4 bass weighing in at 6.78 pounds. Coffing is sponsored by McWhirter Shell. Holding down a solid fifth was Lafayette, Indiana’s Chris Clark with with 3 bass tipping the scales to the 5.98 mark. Clark is sponsored by: Lafayette Glass Company.
The next event will be on Lake Manitou on Saturday July 24, 2004 out of the DNR Ramp.
