Anglers Quest 2010 Sam Rayburn Weekend Team Series #6 out of Mill Creek Park in Brookeland, TX began this event with 80 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $5395.00 purse. After the playing of the National Anthem this event was started at 5:45 am. The anglers had to be in line to weigh by 3:15 pm. This Rayburn Weekend Team Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2011 Rayburn Weekend Team Series events.

FLASH All A/Q lake series championships have been reinstated for 2010 and will be done on home series lakes. The Top 25 anglers entering a minimum of 5 Rayburn Weekend Team series events will automatically qualify for the 1-day Sam Rayburn Weekend Team Championship in October. Any angler making the cut to any A/Q Championship will also be eligible for the “Tournament of Champions” at Lake Palestine in November.

Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and about 1 1/2 ft below normal pool level with water temps ranning 78-80 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 74 degrees with a warming to 90 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was pretty good on Big Sam today as there were 25 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 141 bass at 349.75 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.48 lb.

The team of Keith Worthy & Chuck Sheffield from Kirbyville, TX ran to various mid lake areas in 10-15′ water to catch their 5 bass limit on rods tipped with c-rigged worms. Keith & Chuck also had the 1st Big Bass of the event, a fine 8.15 lber that paid them an additional $150.00 making them a $1950.00 payday for a 1st place finish.

The team of Jaret Latta & Chris Fontenot from Nacogdoches, TX ran Jaret’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to mid main lake areas to catch their bass. They managed to cull up to their best 5 keepers late in the day to finish in 2nd place with 21.09 lbs and collect$1000.00 for their day on the water.

Ben Vaughn & Michael Latham from Lufkin, TX ran their Champion/Mercury bass rig to mid main lake on a milk ran to various places throughout the day to finish in 3rd place with a total of 5 bass at 16.04 lbs fishing with cranks & TX rigged worms around scattered grass. They took home $750.00 for their day on the water. They would like to thank Tri Lakes Tackle for their support.

The team of Jason Reyes from Huffman, TX & Dean Coleman from Humble, TX ran Dean’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to the north lake areas to finish in 4th with their best 5 bass, caught using their rods tipped with frogs & worms around grass that tipped the scales at 15.04 lbs. They had a limit in the boat by 11 am and then culled several more times throughout the day. Their day on the lake payed back $500.00 for their efforts.

The team of Kevin Wolford & Guy Peco from Orange, TX ran their Champion/Mercury bass rig to mid main lake areas to catch their bass using their Rods tipped with cranks & TX rigged worms. They managed to catch 5 keepers by late in the day to finish in 5th place with 14.71 lbs and took home $350.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Tommy Jones & Bobby Moody from Deer Park, TX ran Tommy’s Nitro/Mercury bass rig to main lake points with grass to catch their bass with their rods tipped with cranks & C-rigged worms in 15-20 ft of water. They had a limit of keepers in the boat by 10 am and culled several times by 3 pm to finish in 6th place with a sack of 14.04 lbs and collected $275.00 for their day on the water.

The team of James Laramore & Brandon Bearden from Vidor, TX ran James’s BassCat/Mercury bass rig to the south lake areas to finish in 7th place with their best 5 bass, caught using their rods tipped with craw worms & small cranks around grass beds that tipped the scales at 13.82 lbs. They had a limit in the boat by 12 noon and then culled 2 times throughout the day. Their day on the lake payed back $200.00 for their efforts.

The team of Bubba Frazier & George Kimball ran their Nitro/Mercury bass rig to various lake areas to catch their limit of 5 bass pitching frogs in shallow 2-4 ft deep grass edges and ended up with 13.78 lbs to finish in 8th place and collect $170.00.

The first place out of the money team was 9th place Larry Ford & Mark Nelson, they were not present at the awards ceremony so the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates were awarded to the 10th place team of Tommy Bankhead & R W Jaynes for their catch of 5 bass at 12.50 lbs.
