“Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” Springs Back from Irma, Northeast Florida Event Rescheduled to Sept. 29-Oct. 1

Due to Hurricane Irma, “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” (LLGF) has rescheduled the weekend event for women to learn, practice and go fishing to Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, 2017. Held at the  Northeast Florida Marlin Association private club house and hosted by the nonprofit Ladies Let’s Go Fishing Foundation, the program offers classroom presentations, hands-on skill practice, a networking event, door prizes valued at $300, $20 in gifts and optional charter fishing on Sunday. Registrations are open for this new date.

The event was originally scheduled for the same weekend Irma arrived. “Hurricane Irma chased us away but did not beat us down, commented Founder Betty Bauman. “The ‘No-Yelling School of Fishing” is proud to bounce back and help people return to what they love – fishing!”

The weekend begins with a reception, appetizer contest and fundraiser on Friday from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

Educational activities launch on Saturday at 9:30 am with classes on inshore and offshore fishing, followed by hands-on skill practice for knot tying, releasing, dehooking, conservation, lure rigging, spin casting, fly casting, gaffing grapefruits, cast netting, trailer backing and more until 6pm.

On Sunday is an optional inshore or offshore charter fishing trip for sailfish, mahi mahi, mackerel, tuna, wahoo, snapper, amberjack, redfish, trout, snook and more.

While the focus is on women, ladies have the option to register a male guest and/or teens to include the whole family. Eight thousand women have graduated.

Featured on national network television and more, the series is supported by major partners including ACR Electronics, Recreational Fishing and Boating Foundation, Mercury, Ranger Boats, Humminbird, Minn Kota, Magic Tilt trailers, Penn, Fish Florida and Power-Pole. Annual sponsors are Freedom Boat Club, Coastal Conservation Association, Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, Savage Gear/Okuma, Treasure Cay Beach, Marina & Golf Resort, Sunrise Resort & Marina, AFTCO/Guy Harvey, Future Angler Foundation and Seaguar.

Registration of $59 includes instruction, use of equipment, hands-on training, reception and fundraisers. Other discounts for women with teens are on the website. Charter fishing is additional. No equipment or experience is necessary. The Northeast Florida Marlin Association on Camachee Cove is at 3030 Harbor Dr, St Augustine, FL 32084 (Vilano Beach).
