LAKE DARDANELLE FLW SERIES EVENT TO AIR JULY 15

FSN to broadcast second Wal-Mart FLW Series BP Eastern Division qualifier

Tune in Sunday, July 15 to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the Wal-Mart FLW Series BP Eastern Division event on Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Ark. The second tournament of the $10 million FLW Series season concludes with the winning pro claiming a cash prize of up to $125,000.

The full field competes for the first three days of FLW Series events. Co-angler winners are determined on day three by the heaviest accumulated three-day weight. The top 10 professionals continue competition on day four, and the winner is determined by the heaviest accumulated weight from all four days. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

Fresh off an FLW Tour win at Lake Norman, Chevy pro Larry Nixon of Bee Branch, Ark., weighed in the tournament’s heaviest stringer of 21 pounds, 9 ounces to vault him into third place after day two. On day three, he followed up that performance with 17 pounds, 12 ounces. Simply put, the General is fishing right in his comfort zone. Known as one of the best in the business with a Texas rig, that’s exactly what Nixon is using to catch his fish. Another sizeable limit tomorrow would mean back-to-back tour-level victories for one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Trailing Nixon is BP pro David Walker of Sevierville, Tenn. With a three-day total of 48 pounds, 10 ounces, he’s only 2 pounds, 15 ounces off the lead. Walker, who has won over $500,000 with FLW Outdoors, is grinding it out in the shallow grass. While he’s only getting 10 bites per day, most are quality fish, the right size to win if Nixon stumbles.

FSN also follows pro Matt Herren of Trussville, Ala., who moved up to his best spot of the tournament, fourth, thanks to his best five-bass limit of the week – 17 pounds, 6 ounces on day three. With one day of competition remaining on Lake Dardanelle, Herren has a three-day total of 46 pounds, 15 ounces. He’s fishing one little sweet spot in the back of a creek, where a 6-foot flat meets a creek channel. To entice strikes, the veteran angler is throwing everything from a crankbait to a spinnerbait to a finesse jig. Herren is regarded as one of the most consistent fishermen on tour. Despite seven top-10 finishes, the Yamaha pro has never sealed the deal. Tune in Sunday to see if he can come from behind and claim his first tour-level victory.
