Epilogue:
How do you sum up a week that has to qualify as a “trip of a lifetime”? Of the many great fishing trips I have made to several lakes in Mexico for Bass and even to Alaska for Salmon and Halibut, this trip has to rank right up there close to the top. Our accommodations (at Big Bass/Club Exclusivo) were outstanding, the service we received, plus the overall friendly and helpful nature of everyone associated with the lodge, was nothing short of First Class all the way. The drive down was easy and uneventful, plus the warm, sunny weather in February was a welcome change from our unpredictable East Texas cold fronts.
Finally, because of the influx of new water into the lake, Guerrero is not the same as it has been for the past 10 – 15 years. It is now much larger (almost as large as it was in the 70’s and 80’s), has more fishable areas, and at least based on our trip, appears to be equal to or superior to the fabled Lake Guerrero of the old days. If you are like me, and haven’t been back to Guerrero in several years…you definitely owe it to yourself to go and see for yourself. With some luck (and good timing) you just might find your “trip of a lifetime”, waiting for you at the “New Lake Guerrero”, located just 165 miles south of McAllen, Texas.
Hope you enjoyed the trip as much as I did.
